New Finds This Week.

This just in...

Danish Modern bar stool.  Marked Made in Denmark.
I just posted a set of 3 of these exact barstools on my blog.  Then I went and found one myself.  Unfortunately I only found ONE and what am I going to do with one barstool?  It doesn't look great at my breakfast bar anyway so it's going in my shop.

Cool side table or nightstand.  It has a solid milk glass style top but it's cracked. I think I'll replace the top with glass, find new hardware, refinish the wood and put it in my shop.

Mid Century Modern 2 seater couch.  One side is armless making it perfect to place a little side table. I'll refinish this and post it soon.  Check out that funky shagalicious green upholstery.

Mid Century metal mirror and matching shelf. This has a cool gothic, medieval feel.

C. Jere era metal boats wall art

Wall frame with shelves

Wall clock

Table clock

More coming soon!  I'm hitting more sales this weekend.

The Couch Dilemma. Solved for Now.

I have no patience. I am not the "wait until the perfect thing comes along" girl.  No, I obsess.  I  must have it now!  I happened across a gondola style sofa with attached table that I bought to re-sell but I fell in love.  I tried to make it work in my space, I really did.  But, I could not find other pieces to work well with it and honestly, I felt bad seeing my husband trying to lounge on a skinny, low profile sofa that is really more of a decor piece than lounging couch.  We really lounge on our sofas so while I tend to choose form over function, in this case the couches need to be practical and super comfortable.

Long story short, yesterday I ended up buying West Elm's Tillary sofa set from Craigslist.  We got a great price and they are pretty much what I wanted: low profile, minimal and modular.  To compliment them I'm going to find a danish lounge arm chair.  Now I'm obsessing about that!  Ugh, I just recently sold one that would have worked perfectly. Dang it!

Here was my original set up with brown modular couches. We liked them but the set was too chunky and it seemed to eat up our space:
There is another sofa on the other wall.  Cool set but too big.

Then it looked like this with the gondola sofa:
I liked this but couldn't find 2 other pieces that worked with it.

Now I have these pieces and we love them. These are stock pics from West Elm.  What's cool about this design is that the back supports are weighted cushions that can be moved around for different looks. We got the charcoal blue color.

I just need to finish the look off with a mid century/ danish lounge chair.

I really fell in love with these as I was looking at "new" mid century options but the prices held me back b/c I would need 2 plus a chair.

Luna Sofa by True Modern $1500

Corona @ Macy's $899

Blu Dot's One Night Stand Sofa $1800

Blu Dot Paramount $1700
Urban Outfitters Armless Danish Sofa $479.
I like this look but all I hear about is how uncomfortable and cheap they are.

I'll continue to hunt for my perfect set but for now we're good with the Tillary.

Mid Century Modern Sofas

I've been meaning to post about MCM sofas for awhile now.  I would love to have authentic 1960's armless sofas but it's hard to find a matching pair in good condition and on top of that, a set I can afford.  *Sigh*.

Apartment 528 posted a picture of her new vintage sectional yesterday and it put a fire under my behind to find my own dream set.   Hers is exactly the style I want.

I hit Craigslist Los Angeles to see what was out there..... I love Danish settee style sofas but we really need a "lounging couch" for our living room. We like to lounge.

Danish Mid Century Couch $550 firm.

Mid Century Danish Modern Settee Set $600
I SO love this set!!

Mid Century Settee Sofa $500 firm

Vintage Modern Sectional $950
I love the idea of this set but it looks way too big for our space.  And $950? That's steep.

Vintage Sofa $350

Mid Century Sectional $400
Is the dog included?  He's cute!

Mid Century Sleeper Sofa $450

Mid Century Sectional $2475

1950's Sectional Sofa $1000

Vintage Steelcase Sofa $150 (needs work)

1960's Sectional $150
Hey, this looks like the one above for $2475!!

So as you can see, it's not so easy finding mid century armless modular sofas.  There are some cute things available but not exactly right for our space.

Here's what I've got now:
Our living room/den space.
I have a 3 piece modular sofa.  You can see one sofa and chair here.  The other sofa is to the right against the wall.
This set is new but has a minimal design, its armless, low sitting.  It's works for now.

Our settee style sofa w/ attached table in the entry.
Love this and will never part with it. The former owner painted the wood.  I have the "fun" task of stripping, sanding and staining it....sometime in the future. Looks fine as-is for now.

And here's Apartment 528's sectional:  This is what I need with a microfiber or hardy upholstery.
