(Mid Century) Modern Doll Houses

I always loved doll houses as a girl....but really, I still do.  In the 70's my first doll house was the classic Victorian wood style that you glued together.  My Mom and I spent hours and days putting it together and furnishing it.  I loved it so much.

These days I still get warm and fuzzy feelings when I see a doll house but if I ever purchased one it would be a mid-mod style.  Now that I'm preggers maybe I can justify it.  Hey, it's decor!  Right?

How cool are these designs?

Estate Sale and Thrifty Finds.

Yes, I've been a bad blogger lately.  Is it possible the days got shorter?  I've been so busy (and so tired) lately I just can't seem to take a break and blog.  Before I know it the hour is late and I'm beat.  Know what I mean?  Fortunately part of the business this week was hitting thrift stores and an estate sale today.

It's getting harder and harder to find good vintage in thrift stores these days. I suppose we can thank all the new vintage re-sale shows we see now.   I've started to depend on estate sales more but those are so competitive it's tough to get your hands on the good stuff.  Anyhooo....I had a good few days, thankfully.  Here are a few recent finds:

Saturday Estate SAILing.

'Twas a good day for pickin!  I was up bright and early and at the sale at 7-ish. My friend Kevin was there so that helped to make the hour pass quickly.  I was #3 through the door.  Love that.

My first score was a set of 2 matching Danish style lounge chairs. I love this style chairs.  I already have 3  in my house, each a bit different,  but I needed another one for my den.  Score!

1960's Popsie Toys by Pride Creations.

Some weird and funny little things came out of the 60's. Popsies are one of my favorite bizarro trends from the mid century.   Developed in Japan in 1963, these pop-up toys were only made for about a decade and then disappeared.  I've learned approximately 175 different styles were made.  All are quite odd/funny looking and sarcastic in tone.

Here are 3 I picked up at the estate sale a few weeks back that had the Paul Laszlo tables.  I spotted these Popsies in one of the pictures posted online, sitting next to a couple of Matryoshka dolls. At the time I did not know what they were but I knew I wanted them because I like little weird chotchkie things.  I got mine for $3 each. I see they can go for $50 up to $150 if still in the box.

Vintage Toys. My Christmas Wish List.

I just love vintage toys.  Aren't they so much fun?  They bring back so many warm, carefree childhood memories.  Here's a collection of favorites I created via Etsy Treasury:

and some of the bizarre, kitschy, creepy things that appeal to me....who knows why, I've loved horror movies since I was a child so somewhere, something went off course....
