Mid Century Modern Cat Bed.

In the midst of all the sadness and disbelief over the horrendous Sandy Hook, CT. shootings, this silly mid century modern cat bed made me laugh. I thought I'd share it.

How perfect is this?  Sure, why shouldn't kitty have a period-perfect bed of her/his own...complete with floating nightstands and bedding?  I'm truly Laughing Out Loud!

Shell Residence. Japan.

Yes, this modern masterpiece is someone's home.  I'm pretty speechless at the moment, so all I will say is "Wow".

New Vintage Finds.

Here are some of my latest vintage finds!

These would be super cool recovered in a retro print fabric. The original yellow is nice, but it's torn up a bit along the edges.

here they are in a magazine ad from the 60s!

Vintage Leo Lion Necklace.

I came across this precious little Leo necklace at an estate sale a few weeks back.  How cute is this?  I love this 60's Lion design.  I see this style on so many mid-century pieces from ceramics, to sculptures, paintings and so on.  (see some below)

I'm a Libra.  My sign really got gipped on the symbol.  What fun are scales? Bleh!

Too bad I'm not a Leo, or this sweet little pendant would be on my neck as we speak.  Do you know a Leo?  This would make such a fun present.  See it here.

Aren't they cute?

Frederick Arndt Mid Century Inspired Wooden Art

I was perusing Etsy and came across the incredible woodworking art of Frederick Arndt.  I had to share!

Clearly his designs are inspired by the space-agey, mod shapes of the 1950's and 1960's, yet his work still feels new and fresh, and very much his own.

From amoebas to boomerangs, and Eames dots to starbursts, any mid mod shape your heart desires can be found in these handmade wooden creations.

Here are just a few. Find more at his Etsy shop FredArndtArtworks

Danish Modern Teak Planters.

I came across this teak planter. Had to have it. Do I need a planter?  Nope.

It's simple, minimalist (redundant?) and cute.  It's not the planter to end the search for planters, but I like it.  We'll see.....

Mid Century Patio Tables. To Sell or Not to Sell?

That is the question.  Do I want to let this cute pair go?  I purchased them around 6 months ago-ish, and planned to restore them to use in my backyard for the summer.  (HaHa! Funny).

HaHa, still laughing.... I'm finally accepting that with a baby, two jobs, and a home to run, restoring things gets put to the very bottom of my list. Let's be honest, it doesn't even make The List. It's like a someday list.

So, I posted them on Craigslist with a "make me an offer" price and some good ones have come in.   However, what happens when the thought of them disappearing from your someday list becomes real? You have second thoughts. It's ridiculous, yes. Let them go right? Right?

My second question is, does anyone know the maker? I've done some research, as I love to know the who-what-where of all my goods when possible, but I haven't found anything close to this design thus far.

Narvik Armchair by Fler

I originally posted this chair as a "Can you help me identify it"? But, a little digging and I found it myself.  I felt it was sort of a Wegner look, but there was something unique to it that I had never really seen before.

It's a Narvik chair for Fler, designed by Fred Lowen.  Circa 1960.  Scandinavian design, made in Australia.  Apparently it's a highly coveted design because of the wide armrests and sculptured "horns" on the back.
