Mid Century Furniture Designs I Haven't Seen Before.

It's always fun to come across a mid century modern furniture design I have not seen.  Just when you feel like you've seen it all, something different pops up. It's exciting to know there is still a lot I do not know.

Check out this dresser and chest on Ebay.  At $495 a piece, I think that's  a great deal.  Here in So. Cali you'd be looking at $1000 + per piece.  Well, OF COURSE these are in Missouri. I'm convinced this is where all the incredible mid mod pieces hide out.

Ah, just check out that gorgeous detail......woweeee

The seller does not note a maker but says it's similar to Kent Coffey's Perspecta line.  Eh, kind of.  Anyone know about this design?

Incredible Mid Century Rispal France Floor Lamp

Check out this unbelievable lamp by Rispal, France on Ebay.

Wow right?  Current bid is at $910.00

On another note, I'm still waiting for baby.  2 weeks to go but he could come any day now.  We are so ready and the waiting is just killing me.

Happy Holidays!

Our Vintage Modern Baby Nursery.

Drum roll pleeeease....finally our baby boy's nursery is complete.  I am so happy with how it turned out. I had a picture of it in my mind and I dare say this is spot on or perhaps a little better than I even imagined.   A perfect mix of old and new!

I started planning baby's nursery about 3 months into my pregnancy and once I knew we were having a boy the hunting & purchasing began.  It took months to pull it all together but, phew, it's done!  Now we just need our sweet baby boy!

What do you think?

Mid Century Modern Sofa.

We bought this gorgeous sofa today.  I think it will replace our mid century sofa w/ attached table in the front room - though my husband loves that one.  I think this one wins the coveted space.  I just love the color and arm detail.

The sofa is not out of my Explorer yet, as we need help to move it.  At almost 9 months pregnant I cannot move something this big, even though I can't stand not getting it in the house ASAP!
Update 1/5/2012, sadly it does not work in our space. It's too large for the entry.  It fits but messes up the flow of my other pieces.  I am having a hard time accepting that I have to sell this but some lucky new owner will love it. Off to my Etsy shop it goes.....sigh.....

Scored a Scoop Chair and Lost a Credenza.

Let's begin with the bad news and get it out of the way.  Ugh, this one stings....  You know I've been hunting for a mid century credenza for a long time now.  I want something long and simple on peg legs with ample space inside to house my hubby's boy-toys: PS3, DVD player, receiver, etc.  It needs to have sliding doors so I can hide all the electronics from sight.  AND I don't want to pay $800 for it.  Well, wouldn't you know, the ideal piece showed up today for $200 OBO and I missed it. Ahhhhhhh I hate that, but that's how Craigslist goes huh?  Let me wipe my tears....

Gone baby, Gone!

On a happy side, I found a scoop chair yesterday.  I've always loved this style but I rarely see them on Craigslist and have never seen one at an estate sale.  I guess it goes to show if you're patient, you can find what you want.  That's me sending out positive vibes so another credenza pops up.

Now, granted, my scoop chair is no Carter Brothers Scoop like Dana's of Mid2Mod, but it's still cute and it looks really great in our living room with our super low couches.

I might change the upholstery but it's pretty good as-is for now.

And Dana's amazing Carter Brother's Scoop Chair - drool!

Loooook What I Scored Today! Mid Century Lounge Rocker Recliner by James Inc.

Just when I thought I'd never find the right chair for my nursery, here it is, even with the foot stool.
I'm in L.O.V.E!

This mid century modern lounge has a switch you push/pull that allows the chair to gently rock like a rocker.  Or, you can adjust it to recline to up to 4 positions.  It also comes with a foot stool....which by the way can adjust in height too!  On top of that it's in amazing condition and it's orange, one of the accent colors in my nursery.  It's made by James, Inc. Highpoint, NC. so I believe it's an original Milo Baughman design.

Another plus, these lounge chairs tend to be big and bulky, and take up a lot of space. This one is the perfect size and feels much more delicate than the other lounges I've had like this.

I'll post more pictures of the nursery once I have the wall decor up. It's about 90% complete.

Just realized I have the foot stool pointing the wrong way. I was so excited to post this I didn't even notice.

My Latest Mid Century Crushes.

I'm always on the hunt for something.  I'm still keeping an eye out for a Nelson bubble lamp and a TV credenza.   They will come with patience, but unfortunately I don't have much of that.... ha ha

My new searches include an office chair to replace my cute but uncomfortable Danish task chair and I would love a pair of Danish Modern bar stools. I almost had them but lost out in the Craigslist war!  Ugh!

Pair Rosewood Bar Stools.  Lost them ;(

Plycraft Office Chair for $125 on Craigslist Los Angeles

Mid Century Modern Credenza $150 Ebay New York
I really wanted this and tried to arrange transportation. I just noticed he changed it to local pick up only, so he must have changed his mind.  :(

I'm considering this coffee table. What do you think?

Mid Century Kitsch: Inflatable Terrarium Footstool

Ok, what the ****?  Some crazy things came out of the 60's and this has to be on the top of the list.

I came across this one on Craigslist Los Angeles this morning for $60.  I suppose it's something coveted just because it's so bizarre?  If I keep talking about it I suppose I'll want one too.

You know I had to go searching for more.  Here they are.....

Wow, a lot of them are out there - and all of the stools I found on Etsy have sold.  I guess I'm out of the loop on this one.  I must say, the more I look at them the more interesting they become.  Would I pay $100 for one? No, but it would be a funny kitschy item to own I guess.

What do you think of this bizarre design?

Wall Unit Refinished and In It's Place - My Home.

To no ones surprise I'm sure, the wall unit has found it's new home in my dining area.  How could it not? It's such a beautiful and rare piece.   I had a Kroehler china cabinet there before, which I loved, but this new piece blew it out of the water.  It's so sleek and I love the airy-ness (did I just make up that word?)

My husband gets all the credit for this.  He refinished it and I "supervised". I did some of the staining just so I could have a part in it, but really it's all him.  Good job honey!

Check out the before......

There was a tag inside one of the drawers at some point. Here is what's left.  Anyone have any idea??
Looks like an Sa..g....no idea!

and here is what I had in this space before. Now for sale:

Do you like the new wall unit better than the china cabinet?
