Craigslist Love.

It's been a long time since I have posted my Craigslist Love(s).  I spent some time this morning browsing Craigslist here (Los Angeles) and sipping my coffee....while baby slept. Ahhhh, some alone time. ;D

Here's what I found....

70's Club Chair with Chevron Upholstery $180

Not exactly my style but this could look incredibly cool in the right space. And don't you just love that chevron?!

Rare Plycraft Chair (Project) $175

Drool.  Wouldn't you love to bring this baby back to life? I am in love with this chair.  

Project chair: It needs new upholstery. 

Mid Century Hutch/Desk $400

Love this.  Everything about it.... love love love.  How cool is the little glass encased top shelf?

Paul McCobb Lounge Chair $350

I'm a sucker for Paul McCobb so naturally I like this chair.  How can you beat that beautiful minimalism and clean lines?  

Wegner Style Compass Chair $200

Nice lines. Gorgeous wood grain.  What else can I say?

1970's Arc Lamp $300

I've never been a huge fan of arc lamps, but this one has such a cool mod, space-age design I would splurge on it. 

American of Martinsville Nightstands (restored) $500 

Love the design on these nightstands.  I've personally always preferred to refinish mid century pieces back to their original state but I have to say I'm being swayed by some of the painted pieces I've seen lately.  

John Keal Wedge Side Table $200

I love the built in magazine rack on the side. 

Broyhill Brasilia Room Divider China Cabinet $900

Serious drool. If you've been following my blog you know I have a love affair with Brasilia design.  This would be the ultimate score for my home, though not for $900, sigh.  

Living in the 1950's.

Who caught TLC's "My Crazy Obsession" episode of Doris Mayday, a modern-day woman living in her own 1950's world?

From her home furnishings, to her clothes, makeup, and the car she drives, Doris lives like it was 1950.   Even her boyfriend partakes in the lifestyle wearing 1950's clothing.  Check it out HERE.

If it didn't exist in the 50's Doris does not use or partake in it. That means she does not have a cell phone, she watches a television from the 1950's and even limits the music she listens to to that of the 50's era.  Even her undergarments are from this era...imagine that!  

In this episode she brought in a 50's etiquette coach so she could learn how to be more like the women of this time - i.e. proper.  A few tips were: A lady only shakes a hand with one pump. Today's 3 pump shake is too strong and masculine for a woman. Second, the woman of the house would always offer to take a guests coat upon entry to her home and would introduce herself as "Miss Doris Mayday".

Z Chair Refinish.

In early January my husband and I scored a pair of mid century modern Z style lounge chairs.  I never thought I'd own this chair but poof, there they were on Craigslist (a pair no less!) and somehow I was the lucky first responder.

Because I was hugely pregnant when we picked them up my husband did the refinishing.  I got to stain it, but was sad I could not partake in the stripping or sanding.  Luckily we have 2, so I'll do the second chair.  Here's how the first chair came out.  We only have space for one in our living room at the moment...

We're going to have new cushions made as soon as I get a chance to hunt for the perfect upholstery. In the meantime I'm using vinyl cushions from another chair.  The cushions these chairs came with were too large.

Mid Century Modern Bedroom Set.

It's been awhile since I've posted because it's been all about my sweet baby boy, who is now a whole month old.  But, this bedroom set brought me out of mommy hood for a second. I just had to share:
