Craigslist Love.

It's been a long time since I have posted my Craigslist Love(s).  I spent some time this morning browsing Craigslist here (Los Angeles) and sipping my coffee....while baby slept. Ahhhh, some alone time. ;D

Here's what I found....

Not exactly my style but this could look incredibly cool in the right space. And don't you just love that chevron?!

Drool.  Wouldn't you love to bring this baby back to life? I am in love with this chair.
Project chair: It needs new upholstery.

Love this.  Everything about it.... love love love.  How cool is the little glass encased top shelf?

I'm a sucker for Paul McCobb so naturally I like this chair.  How can you beat that beautiful minimalism and clean lines?

Nice lines. Gorgeous wood grain.  What else can I say?

I've never been a huge fan of arc lamps, but this one has such a cool mod, space-age design I would splurge on it.

Love the design on these nightstands.  I've personally always preferred to refinish mid century pieces back to their original state but I have to say I'm being swayed by some of the painted pieces I've seen lately.

I love the built in magazine rack on the side.

Serious drool. If you've been following my blog you know I have a love affair with Brasilia design.  This would be the ultimate score for my home, though not for $900, sigh.

Friday Finds. Mid Century Lovin'!

It's favorite Friday finds time!  I love to scour Craigslist to see MCM items for sale, whether I need or can afford them or not.  It's a bit torturous because I inevitably find something I love and want, but I know we all do it.  Come on, admit it!

Here are some current faves for sale on CL Los Angeles & San Diego:

Walnut Storage Display Case Book Case $375

Space Age Lamps $300/pair

Gerald Thurston Lamp $175

Walnut Wood Frame Lounge Chairs (need work) $120

Mid Century Teak & Tile End Table $150

DUX Lounge with Cane Backrest $300

Broyhill Sculptra Dresser $485

Paul McCobb Nightstand $150

Danish Modern Lamp $75

DUX 63C Lounge $600

Danish Rosewood Credenza $3000

Milo Baughman Lounge $350

Mid Century Chair $175

Mid Century Coffee Table Magazine Rack $120 (I really want this!)
UPDATE on this piece: I tried to get it.  I emailed 10 minutes after it was posted and said I would purchase it. Got an email about an hour later saying "Someone is coming to see it.  I'll update you".  I replied with an offer of a good amount more than she was asking but when she replied it was already sold.  This one hurt.  I really, really wanted this table.  Oh well, can't win them all.

Mid Century Slat Bench with Cushion $65

I see some deals here. Granted, they aren't the prices my mid-west friends see but for LA some of these aren't too bad.  I've got my eye on a couple of these pieces but unfortunately I'm off to a meeting in 20 minutes and I have a busy day after.  I'm assuming my favorites here won't be there by day's end.  (I was right - the magazine table, gone in a hour!)

You had me at Peg Leg. Paul McCobb Planner Group, I love you.

My obsession with mid century modern began many, many years ago with a peg leg desk.  Mr. Paul McCobb got me hooked with his Planner Group designs.  The legs, the legs!

One of the great designers of the 1950's, Paul McCobb created some of the most beautiful American mid century designs.  His signature look is clean and simple with the hard-to-miss long peg legs.  The Planner Group is my favorite design of the mid century, along with Brasilia by Broyhill of course...and then there's Saarinen's tulip designs. Ok, my favorite 3!

McCobb, (1917-1969), never received any formal design training.  He first established a studio in 1945. He worked primarily as a decorator and retail display designer, eventually turning his attention to furniture: by 1950, B.G. Mosberg was marketing his stylish, affordable Planner Group.

McCobb's pieces were flexible and practical, designed to meet the needs of post World War II middle-class lifestyles. For example, his "living walls", complete with moveable room dividers and storage systems, allowed for maximum efficiency in limited spaces.

He became a household name in the 1950's, earning himself the nickname "America's Decorator". His work was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

Some of his classic pieces....

Even though the Planner Group is my favorite design do you think I have even one piece?  Nope.  Still searching for them.....
