Summer is Coming! My Mid Century Inspired Outdoor Space.

Summer is definitely upon us...well, here in Southern California at least.  My Aunt, who lives in Utah, informed us that it snowed there this week. Are ya' kidding me!?

I got a wild hair the other day to set up my outdoor space. Most of my furniture had been put away for the "winter"...which equates to lots of rain here.

While it's not my dream outdoor space it at least incorporates some mid century pieces which will hold me over until I can find a real 60's patio set.

Here's a peek at my outdoor space now......

I picked these planters up at 2 estate sales a few weeks back.  I have 3 of the tall tulip shaped cup planters.  Just painted them last week.  Remember my first post about them

My little set of 50's metal chairs.  I stripped and painted them and added new upholstery last summer.  Look at the awesome backrest detail.

I love this pattern on anything - curtains, rugs, pillows, etc.

I love these. I picked up the pair at Salvation Army last summer for $5 each.  I repainted them crisp whhite.  I made a tripod ashtray into a plant stand.

I had no use for this slat table inside my house so now it serves as a plant stand and side table outside.

I love my hoop chair. I picked this up from Craigslist last summer.

This was the best I could do for an outside patio table.  It's an Ikea table and chairs I purchased on Craigslist.  At least it's modern and minimal.  See the "hairpin" legs on the table?  Kinda 50's right?!

My minimal mid century outdoor lamps.

Metal hoop chairs and table on the front porch.

In the next post I'll show you what I really want for an outdoor space. I'll be doing some research to find inspirational photos over the next few days.

What does your outdoor space look like?

Everything looks wonderful! I'm such a sucker for hoop chairs in particular...and any metal chairs in general...so everything you have appeals to me! So crisp and cool looking with all the white.

You mention this isn't your ideal surrounding (yet) but boy do you have some awesome pieces! I'm also an ogler for hoop chairs and planters. It's tough in my area (Indiana) to find great mcm outdoor pieces but I keep looking :)

Oh. My. God. Your outdoor spaces look like they belong at a luxury hotel in Palm Springs. So clean and hip! I love all of the different areas. It looks absolutely read for a party, with hip, attractive people draping themselves across these hip, attractive pieces and sipping mojitos. Jealous. Our deck looks like a yard sale. But less cohesive.
