I did a search for "mid century rocker" on Craigslist Los Angeles. Got a slew of rockers, some in fact mid century but way over priced, some were nothing close to mid century. OK, so next try "retro rocker". There it was. Posted on April 16, an orange mid century rocking chair with what appeared to be the original upholstery. $40 or best offer. I was sure it was an old posting left up on CL even though it sold (hate when sellers do that) but I emailed the contact anyway.
What do you know, it was still available. Luck #1. It was located just over an hour from me but luck #2, my hubby just so happened to be working down in that area for the day. Hmmmmm....but would it fit in his small work car? Luck #3, he was able to maneuver it so it fit just barely. So yes, as you can tell, I got it. Yay! $35 bucks and it is indeed the original orange upholstery. This would look great in a say....a baby's room, an office, den?

Check it out. Just needs a light sanding and coat of stain to freshen up the wood:
Pretty funky huh? I love orange but I might reupholster this eventually. Generally, I'm against changing something that original and still in good condition, but depending on where this goes in my house I may end up switching it out. We'll see.
I was really hoping to someday find this style (below) for my house. Maybe I still will, but regardless, I love my unique orange rocker.
And of course I've always loved the Eames rocker.....
And some other amazing rockers I'd gladly accept into my home... ;)
I'm so in love with this one
Wow! Love this.
Well, I could go on and on, as there are hundreds of amazing mid century rockers out there. But, my rocker is sitting next to me and it's feeling quite insecure.

Love your orange rocker! And the others are to die for. I'd be thrilled to have any of those in my house.
I quite like that Rocker! It looks quite a bit like a rocking verson of my milo baughman recliner...

Wow, what a great find! That orange rocker is fabulous!!
I had to work last Sunday. While I was there I was poking around on craigslist and there was a listing full of free stuff that had "retro" or "danish" or something in the title. I clicked through and there was a fuzzy pic of a bunch of stuff sittin' out by the curb in the rain. In front of all the stuff was a rocker just like the orange one in your first picture. I saw the ad about 4:45pm and it was listed at about 2:30pm. It was too far away for me to take a chance driving over. Did I mention someone was so over this chair that they just put it out with a bunch of other FREE stuff! PS the other stuff was cool too! ::sigh::

AAAAAGGHHHRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH! I'm so ultimately jealous!
Nice find! And I love seeing the others, too. Kicking myself for a passed-up rocker I saw in a thrift long ago... Hate that!
This is a fantastic rocker! I love the orange, but I can also see wanting to replace it with something more cozy if it's actually going to be used for baby-rocking someday.
Just for the record, Eames rockers are so so cool looking, but personally, I think they are kind of awful for nursery chairs. As far as nursing, they just don't have the right dimensions for me personally, and I've heard other moms complain about that, too. Of course, just as an awesome chair to have around, it's perfect!
Great find!
Love the orange rocker and what a great price! You are lucky! I'm like you and don't like changing something if doesn't need it. I would definitely keep the orange. I can think of several places to put that rocker if you get tired of it!
Hi, I have the rocker that you liked (picture under the orange one). I found it when cleaning my deceased brother's attic. Do you know if it has a name or do you know the maker? It is not put together at the moment, but should go together easily. I just can't quite figure out if I have all 4 correct pieces, because it is put together with a slot system, and one piece doesn't seem to have the correct screw placement to fit into a slot. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.
