Paoli Mid Century Rocking Lounge Chair. Here and Gone!

I had this beauty in my possession for about 1.5 days before it sold. I picked it up on Friday in the pouring rain (a beautiful chair will get me out of the house even in a down pour), I listed it in my shop on Saturday and when I woke up Sunday morning it was sold!

This is a mid century era Paoli chair in incredible (like new) condition. It's oh-so-comfy.  And look at those gorgeous lines and curves!  The best part of this awesome chair is that it looks like a standard lounge but when you sit down.....ah, it's a rocking chair!   I thought for a second about swapping it for my orange rocker in my nursery but it would not have worked well with the rest of the decor.  But, I'm happy to say another new Mommy is getting this for her nursery. It's the perfect nursing rocker for the hip mid century momma.

Danish Modern Rocking Chair....Again......

Remember this post about a Danish Modern rocking chair I was drooling over at $100 on Craigslist?  I tried to get it back then but so many people made offers over the asking price that the seller "decided to keep it."  Well, it's back on Craigslist for $250.   It's a good deal still at $250, though I can't splurge on it right now.   Oh, I'd looooove to have it but I have to pass.  (Big sigh). I hope it goes fast so I don't have to keep seeing it while I search Craigslist.

Besides, I was a little turned off to rockers for my baby's nursery when other Mommies (and my Mom) said "Oh no, do not get them used to rocking or they will want it all the time and won't sleep without it".  Scared me off!

Ahhh isn't it gorgeous??

Any takers?  For sale in Sherman Oaks, CA. for $250.  See the listing here.

Another Danish Modern Rocking Chair - Missed!

I can't believe it. Another Danish Modern rocking chair on Craigslist at a ridiculous price.  I thought $100 for the one I blogged about a month ago was a steal! This one?  $50!!!!!!

This was listed Thursday night at 9:45 pm.  Friday morning at 8:56 I emailed.  I knew it would be too late but I had to make an effort.  There was no phone number so I waited all day for an email reply.  I wanted this chair for my baby's nursery so badly but I did not get my hopes up.  Los Angeles is filled with dealers that monitor Craigslist 24/7 for deals like this.   There are actually apps that alert you of new postings with your key words as soon as they hit Craigslist.  Geez, guess I need a newer phone!

So, I received an email last night that the rocker "Sold quite quickly".   I'm sure someone spotted the posting 5 minutes after it was listed and grabbed it first thing in the morning.  Dang it!  Status: I'm still dreaming of the day I'll own one of these. ;(

Heartbreak, again.  $50!

My Latest Find: Mid Century Modern Rocking Chair

I did a search for "mid century rocker" on Craigslist Los Angeles.  Got a slew of rockers, some in fact mid century but way over priced, some were nothing close to mid century. OK, so next try "retro rocker".  There it was. Posted on April 16, an orange mid century rocking chair with what appeared to be the original upholstery.  $40 or best offer.  I was sure it was an old posting left up on CL even though it sold (hate when sellers do that) but I emailed the contact anyway.

What do you know, it was still available. Luck #1.   It was located just over an hour from me but luck #2, my hubby just so happened to be working down in that area for the day.  Hmmmmm....but would it fit in his small work car?  Luck #3, he was able to maneuver it so it fit just barely.   So yes, as you can tell, I got it.  Yay!  $35 bucks and it is indeed the original orange upholstery.  This would look great in a say....a baby's room, an office, den?

Check it out.  Just needs a light sanding and coat of stain to freshen up the wood:

Eames Inspired Rocking Chair for Momma

Ok, this is embarrassing; I'm not even pregnant yet but I'm already decorating the baby's room in my head. Actually, it's out of my head to be honest....I already have stored away some really fantastic vintage baby items for display in his/her room like a ceramic piggy bank, timmy the tiger pop up toy, wooden blocks and vintage baby books and prints.

Yes, I like planning ahead. Yes, I'm in love with all things vintage, mid century and design in general.

So......here is what I'm hoping to get to rock my little joy in when I have a baby. White or blue... I'm not decided yet.

There are so many available on Craig's List right now I kind of want to just do it. It would look cool in my house in the meantime anyway right? Come on, help me justify it!
